leap day

Today is Leap Day. February 29th. Woah.

I really want to meet a person who was born on this day. And I want to give them a hug. Don't ask. They must be sad, so they need a hug. This is my way of life. Give people hugs and there will be happiness. Unless you're my friend Kaitlin. She hates hugs.

Leap Day is special...It comes and goes off of our calendars. Four years from today another Leap Day will roll around and four years ago a Leap Day was in the past. Today is a crazy day. Remember it though...days like these don't come around often...remember today as something amazing...something memorable. Life doesn't last for eternity, so when an extra day comes along, make sure you take it. Jesus gave you life...

Now you get to choose to live it.

lost in thoughts

This has been on my mind for so long... the future hubster (yes, "hubster." It's my word my for "husband". Don't ask, I just thought it was cool). I wonder about him a lot... going crazy wondering if we've never met before or if I already know who he is. Do you ever think about your guy? Maybe wonder what he looks like...talks like...WHO HE IS! Or is all this just me? Somebody...is this just Emma?

I made a list once and finally wrote it down while my friend and I thought about our future hubsters. We both decided that above all the other things we wanted was for him to love God. If he didn't love God, I don't know what I would do. One thing I look forward with him is serving God together. I mean, c'mon. Serving God together. It doesn't get much better than that. :) But wouldn't that be amazing? Ahhhh....so amazing.

There are definitely other things...like, he's gotta be gorgeous! That's just required. Honestly, I hope he has dimples when he smiles. That is all I ask!!!!! [imaging his smile] I'm dead.

Do you ever think about your dream guy? Maybe? You know, there's a guy out there for you. Maybe he's even thinking about you right now. Don't get lost with a guy who doesn't cherish you for you. Your perfect guy is out there...you just got to look for him sometimes.

One word: amazing. I read them all in like three months last year (August, September, October...) because I was so addicted to them. They've changed me in so many ways. Emotionally and spiritually. During times in the books, they'd get so good and intense that when something awesome happened, I'd scream in my pillow and try not to kick a hole into my wall. Or when something bad happened, I'd get so depressed I couldn't pick up the book for 24 hours. It was perfect timing in my life when I started reading these books. I could relate to so much that the characters were going through. And even at times, I felt like I was one of them, living their life. So when I'd close the book, I sometimes ended up staring at my wall...thinking about everything. The characters. Their lives. Then I'd get depressed because then I realized they weren't real and I was. :) muhahaha. But they were intense and I could go on and on about them all day...but you better read them or might just give something away.

Lauren posted this really cool thingamajig over at her blog today and I decided I wanted to join in! She didn't tag me (heh heh) but I wanted to play anyways...besides, everyone should be able to play, right? Right! So, here goes...

11 random things about me:

1. Scary faces actually scare me. Yes, isn't that their purpose? Most people call me a wimp (or a "scaredy-cat". Meow.) because I usually have to go run away and hide when I see a face...yeah, maybe I am a wimp.

2. My dream date would be to go to Disneyland. You know...the place where dreams come true. Seriously! That place would be extra magical to go to with the dream guy. I'm just saying.

3. I have imaginary conversations in my mirror with people, mainly my friends. I don't know... I'm a social person! And I like to talk...sort of. Not really. Yes.

4. Being in the same water with fish freaks me out. Not a beach person either. It's sad.

5. I love books. Like, LOVE BOOKS. It's pretty bad and pretty awesome at the same time. Love them...
6. If there I could only pick one place to travel one day...it would be Europe. That place is amazing (and all my ancestors are from all over that place!) and I think it would be an incredible place to travel...

7. I don't like Harry Potter. Go ahead, punch me. Remember what I said about scary faces? Yeah, that's basically why. Don't judge!

8. I don't like salad. It's pretty sad. I love veggies, but when it comes to salad my whole world crashes...

9. I once asked my brothers if I was a mean or annoying sister. They said I was annoying. I AM NOT MEAN! I don't think I've ever been prouder.

10. I have never really liked talking about myself with people...so this is pretty hard to write. But hey!! It's question #10 and I have survived!

11. I have always loved paper. All my life and for the rest of it, I hope my love with paper will never waver. It's all over my room...all over the floor...everywhere. Yeah, I'm a writer.

1. If you had to wear skirts for the rest of your life, or jeans for the rest of your life, which would you choose? I would choose jeans...I think they are really comfy and they fit my casual style. Love them!
2. What was your favorite PBS kids show growing up? Well...I never really watched PBS. Did I? I have no idea. Wasn't there a show called "Zoom" on PBS? If so, I watched that. :)
3. Who is cooler? Zack Morris or Cory Matthews? I have no idea.
4. What is your least favorite smell in the world? Poop.
5. What's the worst injury you have ever had? When I twisted my ankle. Don't ask.
6. What book have you read more than once? Ella Enchanted. Aaaamazing!
7. What do you take the most photos of? My friends...usually for youth group events. Fun stuff.
8. What is the first perfume you ever purchased/wore? I think it was P.S. I Love You from Bath&Body Works.
9. What is your ideal date? I've never been on a date before, but if he took me to Chick-fil-A, I'd marry him.
10. Tell me your favorite thing about the state you live in. I live in the Los Angeles area of California!! So, it would have to be Disneyland....ahhhh...

I'm thinking...dot.dot.dot.

It's time.
I'm trying to decide on a new hairstyle. Right now, my hair is...I don't know. My hair color is dark dirty blond, it's sort of the average length, and I've got over-grown side bangs (which look pretty weird when I put my hair up into a poiny tale. Anyone know what I'm saying? Maybe?) Every girl wants pretty hair, right? At least, I do. :) So I've put together some hair-dos that I like and we'll see what happens.
My hair is sorta like this only my part is on the right (or the left...I'm confused).
I really like the messy look, but I don't want the bob.
This would be really pretty (except I wouldn't want my hair colored. I'm keeping it natural).
Or maybe if I got it trimmed like this, with no bangs...merf.

MISSION...POSSIBLE!

EMMA HAS BEEN BAAAAAAD.
Alright, I'm sorry you guys...I haven't been posting. :( It's sad, I know. And I've already had several posts like this but this time, this is for REALS. Seriously...postively positive.

I've decided I want to make this blog awesome.
Yes, awesome.
It's sort of okay right now.
But I want it to be awesome.
Will it be hard?
Maybe.
Will it be a challenge?
I like challenges. :)
Will it be worth it?
YES!

I want this blog to be more of my style. What I'm currently crazy about. MORE JESUS, peeps! I don't want this blog to be centered around me, but I really just want this blog to be a place for you. A place where you can come here and feel good about yourself and your life...Cause I like those sort of places, where happiness is just THERE. :) Most of all, this blog is dedicated to God. The one who gave me this heart to write, and this heart for style. He's the one behind all of this, so this blog deserves to be awesome!! :)

DIY\\ 3 pretty card ideas

Who doesn't like a pretty card? (If you just said "I do," I am sending you sadness through your computer screen to your very heart. yeah, that's right. I just said that.) SO, I looked around and found some AMAZING card DIYs that I love!! :) Check them out...

Water-color stripes! Basically, you just use water color stuff and paint stripes across the cover of your card. :)
Chalk paint! Using chalk paint, paint a heart on the cover of your card. Then you can write something (with chalk) on it once it dries. Just thought that was cool... :)
FEATHERS! This one is probably my favorite. :) Get some paint and make a feather shape on the cover. Once it dries, get an inky pen and fill in all the feather details. :) Coolio.

on the outside looking in.

Left out. I was that kid for a long time...or at least I thought I was. All of my friends liked me. Every time I saw them they screamed my name (heh heh) and hugged me and stuff... but still I felt left out.

I felt alone.
Like no one has been through what I've been through.
No one to tell.
No one to ask.
No one to be there for me.

I was on the outside looking in.
I thought I was stuck.
That I would always be the kid who was secretly hurting.

Until I found out that I wasn't alone.
In my life.
In my memories.
In my thoughts.

Jesus was there. Once I said that I wanted Jesus in my life, the pain didn't hurt as bad...because I knew that I wasn't going through the motions alone.

For he himself [Jesus] is our peace...
and has destroyed the barrier.
Ephesians 2: 14

I was in a storm with my past and I thought I was alone, but Jesus can break through barriers. He can break through your deepest hurt. The walls you've put up that you're too scared to take down, he can break down. And I know what it feels like to feel vulnerable...Jesus won't take down your walls and leave you. He'll replace them with himself to protect you, to guard you when the things you had up before didn't.

But it was hard.
And maybe you're too scared to take down your barriers yourself.
But Jesus can do it for you.
He'll take them down one brick at a time...
and replace them with love.
Real love.
Not the fake kind that you think you can get from guys.
Real love.
The smiling kind, the jumping kind, the laughing kind.
Maybe then you won't feel so stuck anymore.

And I know what it feels like to wait for the storm to pass.
And I know what it feels like not to hear God,
and I know what it feels like to continue to believe you're alone,
and to be blind from the sunshine in life,

but know that Jesus is doing something.
and maybe you just can't see it yet.
but he's breaking through that barrier.
Be in the inside looking out.
Try to find those people who are still on the outside.
Bring them in.
Love them when they're friends and family haven't.
Make them smile...
laugh.
That's God's love.
Spread it.

1. What time did you get up this morning? 7:30 for school. Sad, sad day...

2. How do you like your steak?
Well done...or a little pink. I really don't care. As long as it's cooked, I'm all good. :)

3. What was the last film you saw at the cinema?
Captain America. Best. Movie. EVER!

4. What is your favorite TV show?
Either Spongebob or Terra Nova...you pick. :) haha

5. If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?
Not sure... somewhere cold, but not too cold and somewhere still warm, but not hot. Anybody know where that "somewhere" is?

6. What did you have for breakfast?
A Pop-Tart. Life is good...

7. What's your favorite food?
Chocolate. That was easy. :)

8. Foods you dislike?
Bananas, Cream Cheese, Asparagus...

9. Favorite place to eat?
Chick-fil-A. :) Eat more chicken!

10. Favorite dressing?
Italian.

11. What vehicle do you drive?
Still too young for that...but my mom drives a Toyota Sienna van. It's awesome. :)

12. What are your favorite clothes?
jeans and a t-shirt. life is sweet that way.

13. Where would you visit if you had the chance?
Europe. :)

usually it's half empty...but I'm workin' on it.

I have no idea. I plan to work in ministry for the rest of my life, so how can I retire from that? It even happens in heaven!! :) haha

Encino, California :)

18. Favorite sports to watch?
I don't really like sports (never have been good at them. haha) but probably basketball. :)

Carried Away from Bath&Body Works, sweetie!

Don't use face cream...yet.

I don't have kids but Johnsons&Johnsons no-cry shampoo SMELLS AMAZING! :)

Yeah. A dog named Baxter. He's a terrier mix. :)

I LOVE JESUS! SHAZAM! (though that's not really new. haha)

an actress. But when I look back on it now, all I wanted was to be known. I didn't want to act, sing, or dance. I just wanted people to know me for doing something great.

cat all the way!

I wish! haha No. That's a long ways off and, besides, I've got to enjoy my kidhood first. :)

? I don't even have a credit card! haha But I would say Forever 21. That place is the shazam in my life. :)

this is my life. So, yes, I have done something spontaneous lately... :)

I don't really have one...but I do babysit. And I like it if the kids aren't evil. :)

Yes.

I'm not sure. Probably going up to Lake Tahoe and it snowing while we were there. :)

My family.

My little brother talking.

goodreads// The Help

The Help
Remember when I posted about The Help movie? Well, I read the book! Some people say that the book is always better than the movie and in this case with this book, I think that's true. :)

The Help by Kathryn Stockett has way more detail than the movie. When you read the book, things make more sense. More detail. And the book even has stuff that movie doesn't even mention.

This book is all about love.
Loving when people don't love you.

Minny~ one of the maids. She's got a "sass-mouth" (that's how they say it in the book. Just letting you know) and a strong personality.
Aibileen~ another maid. Her personality is quiet and she loves the kids she looks after. Her motive is to make the kids feel proud of themselves. :)

What goes with your hair color?


I'm not really into fashion... more into style. I like to pick colors that go with my hair. I've got dirty blond, so it can pretty hard at times trying to find the right color to match my hair. What's your hair color? I put up some colors that might just match. I'm not professional at this stuff... this is just my opinion. What's yours? What goes with your hair color? :)
