check out my mustache mug!

Hey everyone! Awhile ago, Monica over at the First Lime made this AMAZING DIY TUTORIAL for a mustache mug!! My reaction: Shock. Explosion of happiness. And then, I almost cried. Whenever I see something crazy cute, I almost cry. Like Domo for instance. But other than that, I don't cry over a lot of things. Except this. Sorta. :)

Anybody seen the movie Elf? Oh man, BEST. CHRISTMAS. MOVIE. EVER. I love it so much! Though I still watch it year-round (heh heh). I used to watch it a lot with my dad. I think we should do that again. Anyway, I watched it last week with my brother and a few of his friends and it was awesome!! What's your favorite part of the movie? I guess mine would have to be when he's leaving a note and says, "I'm sorry I ruined your life and that I shoved eleven cookies into the VCR." ahhhhh!!! Amazing. My brother's friend and I cracked up every time we quoted it. So funny... :)

Monica, over at The First Lime, cut out a few paper snowflakes. It was such a cute DIY! Plus, adorable! You can check it out here. :)

I made a few of my own snowflakes. You like? :) I decided that if it wasn't going to snow here (I live in southern California) I would make my own. So I did. Yay! Isn't this is what creativity is all about? haha :)

flower power & joyce meyer!!

I am so proud of these flowers. It's been a goal of mine for awhile now to make some sort of crafty flower. And guess what? I. DID. IT.

Yes!!!!

Bonus point, they're a no-sew project. Definitely my kind of project. All you need is some felt, a pair of scissors, and glue. "It's that easy!"

In the meantime, guess what I did today? What? I went to the Joyce Meyer Conference Friday morning session in Long Beach! It. Was. AWESOME. :) I went with my mom and two friends. More awesomeness! :)

For worship, they had one of my favorite singers (yeah, when I found out who it was, I flipped), PHIL WICKHAM!! eeee!!! :) I love you Phil! :) *he's got music on youtube and itunes, be sure to check him out*

Oh, and there's Joyce. The speaker of these incredible conferences. :) Yeah, that's her on front of a magazine catalogue. It was close enough we got to meeting her. :) I love you Joyce! :)

"oh-mazing" hot chocolate spoons

I made Hot Chocolate Spoons using this OH-MAZING tutorial by Mandy over at Miss Indie! When I read it the morning she posted it, I basically flipped out of my chair because there's this one thing I love (and couldn't live without, it's true)...

CHOCOLATE.

*I think I just heard angels singing.*

I mean, chocolate spoons! It can't get better than that, can it? First came that chocolate nut (what's it called? the cocoa tree or something like that?), then the hershey bar, and now chocolate spoons. Exactly. "Oh-mazing" is the word.

Sadly, I didn't have the awesome coloful spoons Mandy used, so I had to go with these plain, clear spoons. Sad, sad, day I tell you. Plain sad. Pure sadness. :(

But,

it still tasted, "OH-MAZING."

haha :)

DIY tutorial // Mr. Mustache Can

I can't believe it. I miss-spelled Mustache up there. Aw, man. Anyway, today I have a DIY tutorial for you! It's my Mr. Mustache Can. I saw something like this before and it inspired me to make this. So I thought I'd share it with you. :)

So what you'll need is

• A can
• Paint
• Paintbrush
• And all the stuff that you use to paint (ex: water, paper towel, plate...)
  

With your paint, you'll want to outline your mustache.

Then you'll want to fill it in. Most likely you'll want to do several coats before you get it to the rich color you want.

Let it dry and use it. Yep, it's that simple.

I love mustaches. I'm not sure why, they're just awesome. So this Mr. Mustache Can is definitely my kind of project. :)

blog planner cover

I have a "thing" for paper bags. I love them. Probably because they are just so easy to have (you know, the fact that you don't have to go to an actual craft store to buy them is awesome) and they always give whatever craft you use them for, an "old-ish" look. So you probably know what I used for this blog planner cover.

That's right.

A paper bag. :)

I also have been loving paper doiles. I think they are so cute and are so much fun to use in crafts. They also give a cool vintage look too. :)

And then I have a "thing" for bright colors. I like to mix up the old look and the bright colors to make something unique yet really cute.

DIY how-to-put-the-embroidery-on-the-card tutorial

Alrighty, here's the promised tutorial on how to get that embroidery piece onto that card. It's a pretty basic tutorial and it calls for pretty basic tools- so it's pretty basic. :) So what you'll need is:

• A Card (or card stock that you can fold and cut into a card)
• Embroidery piece (mine is from the pattern Scandinavian Birds I designed by the Split Stitch)
• Glue (glue sticks wouldn't work for this project)
• Felt (I used a cream color)
• Scissors
• Embroidery floss (that would match up with your embroidery piece)
  

First, place your embroidery piece on top of your card. Trim it a little bit, if needed, to the size you want it at.

Place the embroidery piece on top of felt. Cut around. Use picture above as a guide.

It should look something like this- your embroidery piece now has a felt frame. :)

With your coordinating embroidery floss, use the running stitch to sew the embroidery piece down onto the felt.

It should look something like this.

With your glue, coat the backside of the felt. Be generous but don't soak.

With a little scrap of felt you can smooth out the glue. If you're not the messy type, you can use the side of a tooth instead.

Now gently lay the glue-coated side down onto the card. Make sure it's centered before you press it down.

Press down.

Now it should look something like this.

And there you go! A pretty card with your embroidery piece on it. :)

DIY Cardboard Spools tutorial

I've been winding up some embroidery floss to take with me on a missions trip I'm going on next week (oh yeah, beware, I won't be here to blog next week. Just to let you know...). The kids there love to make friendship bracelets so I decided I needed a way to wind them up on a spool instead of just bringing them in their... before you wind them on a spool thing. Anyways, I didn't want the floss to get tangled because when there's knots that means less friendship bracelets and when there's less friendship bracelets there's less fun! I didn't have any spools around for me to wind the floss on so I decided I would have to get creative (hee hee) and think of something that would work. This is what I came up with-- an inexpensive cardboard spool. Now, that's what I call imagination. hee hee :)

So instead of keeping this idea to myself, I thought I would share this wimpy little tutorial on how to make your very own cardboard embroidery floss spool. Okay, here's what you'll need:

• Cardboard
• Embroidery Floss
• Scissors

First, you'll need to cut out a square out of your cardboard. See picture below.

Then, cut two slots at the bottom of the spool towards the center. Don't cut too far up. See picture below as a guide.

Next, slide the end piece of the embroidery floss into one of slots. Now wind around.

And there you go! Your cardboard spool. :) hee hee

My DIY Little Notebook

This morning I wanted to make something quick and easy but would be fun and cute. Ever have those days? hee hee :) So I was "surfing" through my favorite blog's free projects sections searching for something to do and I came across this little project. A DIY Little Notebook project designed by Sew Tara.
This project was so easy and convient to make. Basically all you need is scraps of paper (I used scrapbook paper, newspaper, actual notebook paper, and a bill envelope. Talk about a random quality of a notebook! :), card board, yarn, and a hole puncher. And in the end, it comes to this cute little notebook to write down your to do lists, grocery lists, etc.
